![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey Pimps and Pimpettes, I had so much fun with my case modding last year, I could not wait to start a new case mod this year, and capture it in a worklog. So with that being said, lets get into the fun stuff. Its Summer again, and time to start another case mod [IMG]http://forums.pcapex.com/ /> - Totally Pimped Out - Killer Paint Deadline: End of August for ShowDown Lan. Yup, about 6 weeks to do a fully modded case. Lets see if I can pull it off. First Post / Case Overview: Here are some initial images of the hornet, as I disassemble all the parts and measure the pieces. My Dremel went MIA, so cutting updates will not be shown till the next post ![]() Here is a picture of the 2 Hornet cases side by side in its stock form: ![]() Here is a picture of the 2 hornet stacked on each other from the front view. Two full size hornet on top of each other is just too tall. ![]() ![]() Here is a side view of the stacked hornet. ![]() ![]() Here is a picture of the rear of the hornet. As you can see the hornet is designed for a mATX PSU. Hmm.. running SLI and Watercooling, a mATX PSU wonÂ’t be able to meet the power requirement. So I will be increasing the POWERAGE of the unit ![]() Removable motherboard trays are always great to work with. ![]() Here is a picture of all the internal guts of the case. ![]() Here is the just bare frame after all the side panels and internal components have been removed. ![]() Well, that was a little intro to my upcoming case mod. Since this mod needs to be done by the end of next month, updates should be coming up fairly quickly. Any comments, suggestions, or input would greatly be appreciated. Regards, SAD Last edited by SuAsDu; 06-March-07 at 12:20 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey folks, Thank you so much for the best wishes on the deadline. THis is a very Ambitious project I have a lot ot things in my head right now that I am putting on paper, as I await parts to arrive.I was actually in the garage tonight laying out some hardware and brainstorming a bit. Right now it looks liek I will be chopping both the top and bottom portion of the case. This will make the case even shorter, which will make it closer to a TRUE SFF case ![]() Seyeklps - thanks for the suggestion of flipping the case upside down. The original PSU hole is for a mATX psu. I am going to mod a full size nVidia SLI certified PSU into the case. I really need the just for the CPU / SLI / WC. If all goes well, I should be doing some work on the case tomorrow So hopefully there will be an update this weekend.SAD |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I do have some sheet metal at home. Which I probably will be using. I really want to keep as much as of the original material as possible. It is made from alum, and it is so light weight, when compared to the sheet metal I have. I will probably need to re put sheetmetal on the front of the case to really layout a new front panel design. As for paint... hehe.. I have some ideas in my head right now. To follow with the hornet theme, the case will be prodominatly Yellow and Black. Chrome / Alum / Shiny Metal will be the accent color. I have not finialized the lighting scheme yet. Tonight brainstorming session went awesome.. my wife always comes up with some great concepts ![]() I am going to see if I can plan them out, and make it happen ![]() SAD |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Quick question - Does anyone know where I can get either any of these 120mm Fans: Solid Yellow or Yellow UV or Clear Fan w/ Yellow LED? I'm trying to layout my color scheme right now, and black fans don't sound to nice ![]() SAD |

![]() ![]() ![]() | NP Love to see good projects like this. I edited my post again. Those Recom fans look good. I think one reason the uv yellow looks green is that uv leds shine some blue too. Most yellow dyes have a bit of green too, lan kids must think it's cool. Interesting led review.. damn thats a yellow led. http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/ledyel.htm
